Formula One Grand Prix Heads to Singapore in 2008

Starting 2008, Singapore will play host to a round of the Formula One Grand Prix on September 28 with a street circuit that is sure to test the skill of the world's greatest drivers, and be absolutely thrilling for spectators and fans worldwide. 

The race is to be held at night and is guaranteed to bring new excitement to the F1 championship event, resulting in an entirely unique atmosphere compared to all the other races on the Formula One calendar, which are currently all conducted during the daylight hours.

Street races certainly have an appeal all their very own and Singapore's 5.067 kilometer circuit, run on public roads and centered around the Marina Bay area with its spectacular skyline as a backdrop, is certain to make the F1 Singapore Grand prix one the most dramatic and  looked forward to races on the 2008 F1 calendar. The race will be run in an anti-clockwise direction on a circuit that consists of 10 right hand turns and 14 left hand turns.

Viewing

The decision to hold the race after dark was made, in part, to enable it to be televised to a larger European audience. There is no doubt that the the increased exposure will benefit Singapore in various other ways too by creating a greater global awareness of the Lion City, thus placing it firmly on the map of the world's most popular must-visit destinations.

An estimated 80,000 spectators will attend the Singaporean Grand Prix race. A number of grandstands will be strategically located around the circuit providing fans with an exciting and unique opportunity to experience the adrenaline fueled, noise filled and action packed race up close and personal.

General entrance tickets for the Singapore Grand Prix are now available from www.singaporegp.sg 

Tickets sales will be handled by Singapore GP Pte Ltd, as well as a select number of approved ticketing agents and partners.

Corporate Entertainment

A number of corporate entertainment options are on offer, including the exclusive Formula One 'Paddock Club' and luxury trackside entertainment suites with their own food and beverage facilities. Those booking Corporate Entertainment packages for the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix will get privileged access to the race circuit along with premium catering and hospitality services.

Hotels and Accommodation

Thousands of visitors will head to Singapore to experience the island's inaugural Grand Prix. While a huge variety of Singapore hotels and accommodation in every price range exists to fit just about every budget, hotel rooms are already in short supply during the weeks surrounding the race. Additionally, some hotels located adjacent to, or overlooking the circuit, are likely to have an additional levy applied to their rates. Fans wishing to attend the race are therefore advised to book their hotel for the Singapore Grand Prix at their earliest convenience in order to avoid disappointment.
